After the location check passes, the app opens the front camera, counts down and takes a selfie (no gallery). The picture is sealed into the signed check-in and sent to DutyMark, where it is kept encrypted for review for a short time (1 day unless DutyMark agreed a different period with you), then deleted. The person keeps their own copy on their phone until they delete it (Settings › My selfies). The check-in counts at once.
Why use it
- See that the person checking in is the right person.
- “Not this person” takes that check-in off the record (absent) — and it can be put back if it was a mistake.
- No camera on the phone? The person can still check in; the check-in is marked “No selfie (camera)”.
Turn it on
Owners and admins; lecturers per courseWhere: Settings › Check-in settings › Check-in selfie. University mode: Course settings › Check-in selfie.
- Off · Take a selfie (kept as evidence) · Selfie + review (also shown to you to check).
Checking selfies
- Today › the camera icon (the number shows how many are waiting). Lecturers: the class register › the camera icon.
- Waiting, flagged and missing ones come first. Tap one: the earlier selfie of the same person shows beside it.
- Looks right, or Not this person (say why — they will see it). “All look right” marks every waiting one at once.
- Big classes (over 40): you see the ones that need a look plus a random sample; switch on “All” to see everyone.
