A work location is a circle around a point, or an area you draw on the map. At check-in the phone reads its GPS position; DutyMark accepts the check-in only inside one of the person’s work locations, and refuses fake-GPS apps. Check-out is allowed anywhere (if someone checks out away from work, it is flagged).
Why use it
- Proof that people were at work, not at home.
- Several branches or sites: give each person the locations they work at.
- Weak GPS indoors gets a small allowance, so honest staff aren’t refused.
Turn it on
- Stand at the place (or search the map) and set the pin, then the radius — or draw the area’s outline.
- Choose who works there (or everyone).
- Optional: add the Wi-Fi names seen there (see Wi-Fi check).
- In Settings › Check-in settings › Where staff must be, choose GPS (the default).
- Settings › Check-in settings › “Send vague or old locations for review”: on = a rough reading goes to you for review; off = it is refused.
For staff
- Home shows “You’re at …” when you are inside your work location, or how far away you are.
- Tap the refresh arrow on that card to read the location again.
If something goes wrong
“Turn on Precise location for DutyMark” — but Location is on
The phone’s Location is on, but DutyMark was only given your approximate location. Open Settings › Apps › DutyMark › Permissions › Location and turn on “Use precise location”. The app asks Android for it and opens that page for you.
“Your location reading is too rough right now”
Indoors, or just after the GPS wakes up, the reading can be hundreds of metres off. Go near a window or outside, wait a few seconds and try again. The app already waits up to 20 seconds for a better reading.
“A fake-location app is on”
Turn off any app that changes your location (mock location) and try again.
